After using The Faceshop’s CC and BB cushions, it became my goal, to try as much cushion products as I possibly can. But of course, that would be hard, seeing that these cushions aren’t exactly cheap. They can cost an arm, and a leg, sometimes.

And because of that, it took me forever to get to try this cult favorite BB cushion.

When you talk about cushions, Laneige is one of those brands, that would surely be mentioned during these conversations. Their cushions are one of the best ones out there, at least, that’s what my research told me. Which is why it made me so eager to get this product and see if the hype for their product is real or not.

PACKAGING: The packaging is just like any other cushion. I liked the fact that it’s white but doesn’t get dirty. It looks so sleek and luxurious whenever I have it on my makeup bag or use it for touch-ups. One standout from the packaging, though, is the holographic design on the cover, which I really loved!

Laneige Pore Control

When you open it up, you’ll see a lid that covers that actual cushion to prevent the product from drying out quickly. And if this is the first time you’re going to use the product, it would have a seal on the actual cushion that you have to peel off to get to the product.

The cushion evenly dispenses the product on the puff, unlike my previous cushion. I researched on this and found out that the reason for this was because of the unique design of the cushion, which I would agree, is a bit different from my TFS one.

SHADES: On the official Laneige website, they currently have 9 shades, which is really impressive for a Korean cushion. Normally, Korean BB/CC creams or cushions would only have 2 or 3 shades, and even the darkest shade in that range would still be a bit too light for those who have light-medium skin tone. Kudos to Laneige for widening their shade range for the market outside of Korea! I use the shade 23 Sand. I have linked their website below so that you can have a look at all the available shades.

FINISH: I’d say the finish is demi matte (like what they said on their claim) with a bit of luminosity, which I love. My skin is weird, as sometimes, it could be either oily or dry. This product works well for me either way. A full matte face has never been appealing to me, so even if the condition of my face gets a bit oily, I still love a dewier look to my face. On cases that I will have to powder it, whenever I’m being more oily that normal, this product tends to look cakey on places where I put too much powder, so be careful if you would want to set this with any powdered product. I have used this product both with and without primer, and personally, I prefer using this without a primer. Also, this cushion looks best when you have a thoroughly moisturized face because I feel that this cushion have a tendency to cling to some dry patches.

COVERAGE: For the coverage, I’d say this has a light coverage, but can be pushed to a medium at most. It evenly covers my face, but in areas with minor blemishes and redness, you’d have to add another thin layer to make it less noticeable. I say that because, even if you layer this, you won’t get a full on coverage. Plus, I won’t even recommend you doing that, since this product have the tendency to look a little cakey when you layer it up more than you should. I don’t think this product was marketed as a full coverage BB cushion anyways, so I was fine with how it just evens out my skin. However, a tiny bit more coverage would have been a big plus.

SCENT: I’ve been using this for a couple of months now, but I never noticed a significant smell.

LONGEVITY: I normally wear this for more than 10 hours (yeah I know… work…) , and by the end of the day, it still looks okay. However, at this time, some of the product have already sunken in to my hugeeee pores. They aren’t noticeable from a far, but if you look in a mirror up close, you’ll see how it settled in to some of the grooves and lines on your face. That might sound a bit scary, but really, despite all of what I said, your face still looks good as if you just have good skin with nothing on it.

I’d say the fading starts at around the 6th hour when you don’t powder. It definitely lasts longer if you add a setting spray and powder. I, personally, just love having this and my natural oils mix as it makes the most natural looking skin-like finish. Gaaaah! I can’t get enough of it.

PRICE: It is expensive. Especially if you purchase it at the local Laneige kiosks here in the Philippines, which I think sells this baby at around 1,950 Php. That is just too much for me. If you want to buy this, I’d suggest buying it from online sellers, or from Althea Korea, which is actually where I got mine for a way more cheaper price.

PROS:

  1. The fresh and youthful finish it gives, especially after it mixed in with your natural oils.
  2. It has a decent oil control.
  3. Packaging is sleek and simple.
  4. It lasts a good 6-7 hours before I start to oil up, if you’re using it with the right products.
  5. It doesn’t feel like I have anything on my face.
  6. It has SPF 50 PA+++. That is always a good thing.
  7. No white cast that I noticed even with the high SPF.

CONS:

  1. THE PRICE!! It’s too expensive for my poor wallet.
  2. Tends to cling to dry patches if face is not properly moisturized
  3. Would have wanted to get more coverage.
  4. Can tend to sink into pores.
  5. Since this was supposed to be a pore control product, I was a bit disappointed that this product did not blur my pores, at all. So if that’s the main reason you are buying this, I’d get something else.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: I love this product. I love the way my skin looks like when I’m wearing this. Sure, I still don’t look like Song Hye Kyo, but whatever, I still love the way my skin looks and feels when I’m wearing this cushion.

While I’m satisfied with the product itself, I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this again if in case I’ll have to buy it at the local Philippine price. I’ll probably order it again from Althea or from some of the online shops on Shopee or Instagram.
